In a bizarre collaboration that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Revealed
According to the official statement, "A mysterious encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of banned rituals and monstrous changes reverberate through the darkness." The storyline presents a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a secret group.
The questline centers on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Transformations
The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview concludes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Additional Material
Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an unique katana together with several objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Addition
This patch also introduces the game's third no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic techniques: Naoe debuts a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This signifies not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series formerly featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
